The TopDuck House

Our "petite maison", our cottage, has been recently renovated, equipped and decorated. It is an ideal low maintenance holiday home where you can "stay at home" and feel good about relaxing.

  • 3 bedrooms, bathroom upstairs. Ideal for 2 couples. 3rd bedroom has a single bed.
All towels, linen and bedding provided.
  • Modern kitchen - stove, microwave, fridge, dishwasher. Plenty of utensils.
  • Extendable dining table for 8. Entertain indoors - or out on the terrasse.
Plenty of outside tables & chairs for the terrasse. And a bit of a barbie.
  • Large separate lounge room. Get away from the kitchen crowd - reading or music!
Sony Bravia TV and DVD player.
  • Toilet and washbasin downstairs. Separate laundry with washer and dryer.
  • Open "terrasse" for outdoor living, car parking. A few steps from the kitchen window.
  • ADSL2 wired modem. WiFi pretty good. Inkjet printer upstairs in writing room.
  • Mobile 4G coverage at the house.
  • There's a lockable bike shed behind the house.
It holds a gazebo, BBQ, umbrellas, outdoor tables and chairs.
  • Pedestal fans for cooling, electric panels for heating.
BR1 Main bedroom
The bedroom has a king-size bed. Plenty of room, great views.

Every room has views over the valley. Traditional wooden shutters shield double glazed windows against the afternoon sun.

The main bedroom is located above the lounge room. Simply decorated in pale blues, this is the number one room.

BR2 The single bed
This bedroom is the passage between the upstairs landing and the main bedroom. It is ideal as a sitting/writing room.

Or it can provide extra accomodation with its single day bed.

BR2a Or your writing room
It may be just the place to start that novel!

The main bedroom is through the door to the left. The limestone wall is nearly a metre thick.

The decoration is simple - but the view is a distraction.

Colour injet MFC printer. Wired CAT5 cable to modem.

Because it's the passage to the main bedroom, this bedroom is designed to be used as an upstairs retreat. It also has a single bed.

BR3 The second bedroom

The second bedroom has a queen size bed.

The decoration is a light yellow, with red for the very French bedspread.

This bedroom is smaller than the main one, but still has plenty of room. And a big chest of drawers.

Bathroom New Upstairs Bathroom

A total makeover in the upstairs bathroom. Bright and ultra euromodern.

A new hand basin set and a heated towel rail.

Very well lit, bright and shiny.

The bathroom has been completely remodelled as part of our house upgrade. We know you will love it.

Upstairs also has a large storage cupboard on the landing between the bathroom and the top of the stairs. Plenty of storage for linen, suitcases and bulky goods.

Kitchen The Kitchen and Dining Room
The kitchen is set up with all new equipment. Dishwasher, stove, fridge, convection/microwave and exhaust hood.
A very French double sink next to the window.
The door to the right is to the utility room and the laundry.
The dining table extends to seat 8.

The kitchen is light and airy. Plenty of storage for 12 sets of crockery, glassware and cutlery.
Quality cookware means you can have a go at real home style French cooking.
The window is an ideal serving hatch if you want to dine out on the "terrasse".

Hifi_Lounge A Place to Relax
New sofas - comfy as they come.
With a new timber floor, massive walls and the shuttered, double glazed windows it's cool in summer.
The electric panel heater under the window keeps the Autumn chill and the Winter cold at bay.
So its as cosy as you'd want in winter.

Videos, DVDs and games under the HiFi.

The lounge room, adjacent the dining room, is the place to relax. The Sony MP3 micro hifi incorporates a CD player and radio tuner as well as taking iPods and card inputs. We've started a stock of DVDs and CDs.

Lounge Our Lounge Room

Cool in summer - warm in winter.

Plenty of light.

So quiet and tranquil.

Reading can be a slow business!

Bookcase in Lounge A Place to Read
Books galore. Dictionaries (French, Spanish, Italian!)

Maps, atlases and travel guides, cookbooks - mais naturellement!

And some novels. Heaps!

The bookshelf is stocked with novels and (local) travel books. Feel free to contribute.

TV Entertainment unit Satellite TV & DVD
Our new entertainment corner.

A Sony Bravia TV, a decoder to the UK satellite and a region free DVD player.

The TV can take input from your laptop video output, HDMI and USB memory stick.

Just like at home, except for 300+ TV channels from the Astra 2B satellite. This gives you all the free to air channels in the UK.

Terrasse The «Terrasse»
The terrasse is over the "road", all 3m of it, and runs the full length of the house.

With very little traffic, it is convenient to use the kitchen window as a servery.

The 50sq m area gives you plenty of room to park, and to set up for fabulous dining.

Too easy.

Table set Outdoor table
Dining à deux.

Lunch with the local fare - bread, paté, terrine, olives, rosé.

There are two tables for outdoors use. The tables, chairs, umbrella, gazebo and BBQ are in the shed.
